And it continues…

I feel the need to share the latest in our drama in selling our house.  I am honestly learning how bad people can act.  At this point, it’s getting comical of how people are acting towards us and what all happens. I finally thought we were moving in the right direction for us.  Granted I do feel like with one step in our favor, we move 10 backwards not in our favor.

Step Forward:  Last week we decided to get estimates on the list of things they wanted repaired based on the inspections but wait until the appraisal was done to know for sure what was FHA required.  After putting our foot down with our realtor she finally seemed to be getting on her game.

Step Backward: Sunday after spending the afternoon at the mall, we pull in the driveway to this!  Lovely wind damage.

Step Forward:  We get estimates done on both houses.  Our new one has a bit more rot damage than we thought so we wanted to get the estimate on that to see how much it would be.  The guy told us there wasn’t any water damage in the subflooring like the inspector said on our current house.  He said it was dry and not any damage.  Not sure what the inspector thought.  While we don’t have the actual estimate he told Brian it wasn’t bad.

Step Forward:  We decided to go ahead and make the repairs on our house before the appraisal is completed to get ahead of the game and pray nothing else comes back.

Step Backward:  Not five minutes after Brian and I decide this, Brian gets a call from the receptionist at our real estate agency asking if it was ok for the appraiser to come out this afternoon.  (Side note: Brian has been asking our agent for several days as to when the appraisal is going to be done and she doesn’t follow up on it and give us an answer.)  Needless to say Brian was a tad upset and told the lady no and she better contact our agent ASAP.

Step Middle Ground: Our agent called Brian back and talked him into letting the appraiser go ahead and come out. She said she talked to him and he sounded nice and didn’t sound like he would be a dick about it all.  She did go ahead and tell him that we have a few things we know need to be done but have not had a chance to do it and didn’t want to have to pay a high fee for him to come back.

Step Backward:  This by far is my favorite so far.  Yesterday Brian gets a call from our loan officer for the new house asking what is going on.  He got an email from the buyer agent of the people buying our house asking to move the closing date up a week.  Brian told him no, that the closing date was still the same.  He then immediately called our agent to find out what was going on.  Thankfully she knows this will not change and said that to him.  I cannot believe that the buyer agent would have the audacity to try to change the date when it’s stated in the contract as April 26 . My guess is after getting the emails Monday as to what time closing was, the buyers saw it wasn’t on April 19 like they requested when they made the offer.  I have ZERO sympathy for them for not reading the contract well enough to see we changed the closing date.  They signed it and it will stay.

Update!

Step Forward:  The sellers of our new house have agreed to split the cost with us to fix the wood rot!
