1 Year

Warning: The following will be somewhat of a sweet post. I normally do not “gush” on here but I thought I could make an exception for our 1st anniversary.

bgfront

That’s right, today is our 1st Anniversary! Several people always tell you that the first year is the hardest. Brian and I have talked many times about this. Neither one of us feel that “this” year was hard at all. At times it felt like we have been married for year and at other times just a few months. I hope everyone has/had the same “easy” first year we did. I am very blessed to have married my best friend; someone who keeps me laughing, spoils me, motivates me, listens to me vent, loves me unconditionally, enjoys sitting on the patio with a cocktail on spring/fall afternoons, puts up with my crazy self, etc.

tongue Sure there are times when we both get frustrated at each other but hey, that’s part of any relationships. The strong ones work through them and grow from each "”tiff” you might have. I am thankful we both hold the same values when it comes to our marriage and relationship. We both work toward the same goals for our life together. At times you are the level headed one, others I am.

slide It’s been a year and I have yet to order wedding pictures! I know, I know. It’s just so hard to get us both to set down and look through over 400 pictures. I really hope I can get some by the summer. While thinking about this, I realized I don’t think I ever shared any of the wedding pictures here. So, enjoy a few of my favorite ones.

Casey's Wedding

This past weekend Casey and Michael got married. Casey is a dear friend and such a beautiful bride! Brian and I headed down to Clinton Friday afternoon to stay with Chip and Lisa. Once we got there we quickly got ready and headed to Vicksburg for the rehearsal and dinner. The dinner was at the Anchuca Historic Mansion and Inn. The Anchuca is gorgeous! It’s tucked away in downtown Vicksburg just a few blocks from the river. Dinner was divine, great food and great company. Saturday before the wedding we spent the day around Clinton and Jackson with Lisa (poor Chip had to work) and then back to lay by the pool all afternoon. The wedding was beautiful and Lisa and I did a great job reading (according to our husbands) regardless of how nervous we were. The reception was at the BB Club just a block from the church. It was GORGEOUS!!! I didn’t get as many pictures as I should have of the reception area, but it was so pretty. The food was wonderful; my favorite was the mini shrimp and grits martinis. I should have had more of those.
Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Chip decide to go all fancy with a new piercing. (Fake, the stud from the place cards.)

Days are ticking by

Tomorrow makes a week till the wedding. I do believe everything is done! Mom has finished all her sewing, with a week to spare. Just hope she doesn’t forget to bring everything next week.

I found out a couple of weeks ago that Vince Gill was playing Friday night before our wedding at the Ford Center. Why is this a problem you ask? We are having the rehearsal dinner at the Depot which shares a parking lot with the Ford Center. Hopefully UPD will block off spaces for us since we are paying to have it there. If not it shall be interesting. I can’t wait to see everyone next weekend! What great memoires it will be!

This weekend is operation pack up house. We plan on getting all of my house packed up and most of it moved. Saturday night we are then heading to Memphis with Lisa to see Death Cab for Cutie! One of my all-time favorite bands and venues; should be a great show. If not at least it’s will be with great companions.

Tool Party & House

This weekend was the Tool Party for Brian. Friends from Tupelo wanted to give us a shower/party and we decided to do a tool party. Since Brian is not known for his handyman skills, he needed a jump start. I know I can't wait to use a few of these myself!

I finally took pictures of the master bedroom. We have just a little bit more to do (new rug, quarter rounds down, and hang the curtain rods) before moving in the furniture.

Sneak Peak

It's late and I need to be in bed, but I wanted to share a peak at 2 of the wonderful gifts I received today at my family shower today.

From Mom and Dad:

From DeAnne:

I had no idea about either one. The one from my parents was the biggest surprise. My uncle made it, with the help of his son-in-law, out of the wood from my granddaddy's barn.

Hump Day

Sunday we had our first shower in Aberdeen. Thankfully the roads were ok enough for everyone to drive down for the shower. The snow Sunday was so pretty. I wish I had taken the time to take pictures, but I didn’t. We had a great turn out for the shower. Brian and I both were surprised at how many people were there. I didn’t take many pictures with my camera, but here is one.

This weekend Brian will be heading to Birmingham with the boys for his bachelor party. All he said he wanted to do for it was to see a good show. He was super excited when he found out Ryan Adams was playing at the Alabama Theater on a Friday night! The guys are leaving Friday afternoon to head and will be gone all weekend. An added bonus is Blitzen Trapper is playing Saturday night at the Bottletree. Brian will have a great time I know.

While Brian is in Birmingham, I’ll be in Hartselle for 2 more showers. So far I’m up to date on all my thank you notes. After this weekend, it might take me a little longer than 2 days to write them all. I have no idea where we are going to put all the gifts right now (since Brian won’t let us use them until we are married). Right now the china cabinet is getting full and the living room is scattered with gifts. I will be moving those into the dining room tomorrow night though. I hope I can bring back all the gifts from this weekend since I tend to like to look at the gift as I write the note.

Spring is just around the corner and I can’t wait! Starting tomorrow the weather is supposed to be in the 70s for the next 5 days. I know I will get the bug and want to work out in the yard, but we have to finish the inside first! I’ll try to take pictures of the master bedroom this weekend since that room is complete. I would take pictures of the office, but the windows aren’t painted yet and I want it to be finished before showing pictures.

The parties have started

This past weekend we had our Engagement party. There was a great turnout for it. Majority of the people I had no clue who they were (the party was primarily Aberdeen people with a few Tupelo friends and my parents). It was very exhausting having to greet everyone; Brian and I did not get a chance to mingle with our friends who made the trip down. Thanks to all who come! We love you all!

So far I have been on top of writing Thank You notes. As soon as I get a gift I turn around and write the note. This weekend will be the true test at how quickly I can turn around notes with our first shower. The following weekend we have two back to back. That will be a feat! The only thing I have left to do is meet back with the florist this next week or so to finalize and then all the big stuff will be done.

Side note: I guess no one wants a free goodie from me. :( You still can leave a comment if you would like one on the post below.

Been awhile.

I know it’s been awhile since I have posted, but things are just moving so fast right now. With just little over 2 months till the wedding, all the little details need to be taken care of and finished up. I’m telling you, I will be so glad when this is over with. April 19th cannot get here soon enough! It seems like every time I turn around there is more for me to do. Thankfully I’m almost done addressing invitations and can move on to something else. I have the best sister in the world (who is also my matron of honor) who is making my hostess gifts and wedding programs for me. Oh, and her and my mom are making the door hangings too for the building. I’m telling you working full-time, re-doing a house, and planning a wedding do not mix.

This weekend Brian and I will be on the go. We have Emma’s birthday party Saturday morning (in Hartselle) and then Dennis’s retirement party Saturday night (in Aberdeen). Sunday is the Super Bowl and party at the Goodwin’s’. Now if anyone has a magic wand that will transport us everywhere quickly and make my dish for me I want to borrow it. Thankfully next weekend is an open weekend and Brian’s birthday! This will be our last free weekend with nothing to do until the wedding. I’m sure going to miss free weekends! I’m going to find an outlet for stress and downtime. Just thinking about it makes me stress because I know what all we have to do to the house before the wedding and there is not anytime.

I know I sound like I’m complaining in the post, but I’m mainly just talking about my stress and overwhelm-ness. I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Sigh

There’s a lot on my mind, but can’t seem to take the time to write or put it into words. I guess the main thing that is “bothering” me is planning the wedding. I have decided that weddings are just crazy. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m older than I thought I would be when I got married and don’t care about it all or the fact that I find it crazy that it’s so expensive to plan one. This is just nuts…why can’t you just have a simple wedding (which is what I want and trying to plan, but even that is more than I thought and want to pay). I am ready for someone else to do the rest for me. I don’t like dealing with this; it’s stressing me out too much. All that matters is that you found that person you love and want to spend the rest of your life with; in the end you are still married regardless of what you serve at your reception or anything else. Sorry to vent, but I just can’t seem to enjoy this anymore.

On a happy note, Mom and Dad are coming in town Thursday. Which means it will be closer to the weekend. We have a Christmas party this Saturday. I know several people don’t like the holidays due to all parties, events, and gatherings, but getting together with friends and family is one of my favorite parts of the holidays.
