Last weekend was my sister's 30th birthday. We threw a party for her at my parents house. Several things came to mind last weekend.
1. I miss my grandparents. I miss the days when I would spend the summers going to my grandparents almost everyday with my mom. Some of my favorite memories are when it would rain and the front part of my grandparents yard would create a "pool" and my cousins and I would "swim" in it and play.
2. My nieces are growing up too fast. I feel like I do not see them near enough. Lauren is not a year old yet, but walking around. Emma is smarter than any 3 year old I know and her intelligence expands each day.
3. At times I wish I lived closer to my parents. I know my parents are not getting any younger and neither am I, I wish at times I could visit at night for dinner rather than having to have a busy weekend and drive back home.
4. I have many little quarks--some good, some bad. They all make me who I am.
5. I wish I could spend days at a time, just being at home working on all my hobbies. There were days where I would read books in a day. It was refreshing this week when I was coming back from NY and was delayed, I started and finished a book. Weekends now are used for cleaning house, running errands, events, work, etc.
6. I need to cook more. Lately I have been slacking in that area. I love to cook, I just have been feeling tired too much lately.

Fun stuff reminicing of when you were little. Good times, good times. That was back when the small things were the most importnat things. Now we have responsibilites, bills, lack of time, excuses, etc. It is important to take a couple of steps back and refelct every now and then and aslo reevaluate. Thanks for the reminder.
I'm with you on missing our grandparents. I went to Decatur with my mom a couple of weeks ago to eat with everyone, and we drove through Vinemont, and it got me thinking about all the wonderful memories I have of Granny and Papaw and how much I miss them. I remember about how we all used to play Capture the Flag and we'd climb the big tree out front and the Sundays when everyone would eat at Quincy's and then go back to their house to visit. I really, really miss being a kid and seeing everyone all the time.
I can't believe Deanne is 30! Tell her I said happy belated birthday!!
