Steak Night

A couple of weekends ago, Brian and I had a date night. A new restaurant, Neon Pig, in town was having a steak night. We had new clue what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. I didn't think to take a picture of the restaurant but I did get one of each course. The place is a convert local market/meat market and still has the meat market and very limited foods. They are the one of the few places in town that sell tons of the new beer. It is a bar as well as a cafe but you grab your beer from the fridge which they sell from. One of the owners/chef used to work at Hot & Hot Fish Club in Birmingham.

(Pictures are taken with my phone.)
First course: Bun Bowls. Broth with pork belly and homemade buns. I was surprised at how salty this was but I could have eaten a big bowl as a meal.

Second course: Hot & Hot Tomato salad. The chef altered this a bit by soaking it in soy instead of balsamic vinegar and topped with bean spouts instead of brussels spouts. It was divine.

Third course: Filet. Topped with bacon and mushrooms on a bed of fingerling potatoes with shaved horseradish. The horseradish was a delight.

Forth course: Peach cake with carmel icing in ginger lemongrass milk topped with a fig. Oh my!! This was the best cake I have had in a very long time. The carmel icing was to die for; I could not get enough of it. The milk tasted like milk after eating Fruity Pepples.
