It’s beginning to feel like Spring!

Spring seem to have sprung this weekend! I immensely enjoyed the weather and getting to work outside some.  Saturday was lovely.  While Brian was finishing raking the yard, I worked on the project I mentioned last week.

rocking_chairs_final 002Our backyard is fully shaded during the summer time, making for a lovely haven, with majority of white flowers.  End of last summer we purchased to unfinished rocking chairs and I managed to get one painted before it got too cold to paint.  Since the backyard is “dark” it needed some color to it.  I love this blue of the chairs (cannot wait to get the other one painted in the next couple of weeks).  We have a bistro set that I purchase a couple of years ago for my house in Oxford.  While at the time it was ok, I have begin to find is drab looking.  After finding a new love for spray paint, I picked up some bright green to paint the bistro set.

I’m thinking about either painting the tiles or picking up some new ones to maybe brighten it up some more. The ones in it just don’t “feel” like they go now.  I plan on making some new cushions for the chairs.  I was hoping to maybe work on them while I am helping out my Mom this week (more on that in a few), but I doubt I’ll get to it.  I cannot wait to share the “finished” photo of the whole patio!

I am working from my parents this week to help my Mom out.  Thursday night she fell and broke her ankle.  She is getting around better now, who knew a desk chair could be so handy in getting around the house, but she hasn’t been to the orthopedic yet so she doesn’t have a cast on it.  We figure she will not be able to put weight on it for about 2 weeks so I hated my sister to be the one to do all the work since she will be the one who gets to play chaffer for her (oh did I mention it was her right foot) until she can drive again.  I felt bad for leaving Brian  yesterday due to he woke up not feeling well.  He was running a low-grade fever, achy feeling, and upset stomach.  I still feel bad for leaving him while he is sick, but at the same time I’m glad I’m not there…he has the stomach virus that has been going around that last for 4 DAYS!  Thankfully the doctor gave him some phenagrine gel to help with the nauseous.

I also finished up Tia’s baby blanket this weekend.  Either I’m getting faster at knitting or this one wasn’t that hard to do.  Either way I’m sort of glad that I’m done with baby blankets for a little while.  Maybe now I can finish up some of the other projects in the pipe.  I finally took a picture of Ashley’s blanket as well.

Ashley’s blanket:  I made this out of fleece yarn.  It’s very warm and soft.  The pattern is nothing fancy (the yarn was a PAIN) to work with, but it works out semi-well since she is using lambs as part of her nursery theme.

Tia’s Blanket:  My first blue blanket!  (Actually I have made 2 whites, 1 pink, and 1 blue).  I waited till I found out what she was having to make hers. I finally got to use the sail boat pattern I had been eying in my book.  I altered the pattern some.  It is originally 3 panels of the boats and 2 panels of cable stitching stitched together.  I haven’t tried to do cable stitching yet and didn’t have time to really learn so I just did it as one panel.  It wasn’t hard at all to alter it.

While I was taking pictures of everything Saturday, I snapped one of the coasters I made for the living room. These were super easy and I need to make up a stash for hostess gifts.

Aren't you becoming a pro at stitching!! I love your blankets with the lamb and sailboats!!

There is a thread store in Savannah that I think you'll really like. Nothing but thread and some stitching utensil in the entire store. Very pretty colors, makes me wish I knew how to stitch...
