Tonight Paula Deen was in town signing her
Celebrations at Off Square Books. Earlier today, Jane and I were trying to figure out what time we should get up to the Square to get in line. Mark's wife started calling him around quarter till 4 to tell him she was on her way up and to bring her coat and camera to her. Jane and I could not believe that at 4:00 there was already close to 50 people standing in line for numbers--which by the way were not being given out till 6:30. Finally by 4:30, I convinced Jane we need to head up there and get in line. Jossie said there was close to 100 people already there.

Jane and I arrive around 15 till 5, and were at the end of the sidewalk by Neilson's (those who don't know, about 200 people back). Terri, Jane, and I froze waiting in line. I was fine but my ears and toes where frozen solid--or at least felt like it. We met a few new friends while we waited in line. Waiting 2 plus hours for a number, which entitled me to come back later to wait in line again to have my books signed. We could only have two books per person, so thankfully Jane offered to have one of mine signed for me.

I was number 207 out of I think 500. I'm not really sure how many she was signing, but I heard a rumor of 500. Once we got our number were told to come back around 7:30ish to get back in line to wait for the actually signing. Crazy how these things work. I knew there were going to be loads of people there, but man, lots of blue hair ladies in one place can be a little, um, scary. What I found interesting where the people who were in line, but had no idea who she was. As we were walking away to wait till we were to be back at 7:30, Jane spotted Micheal, Paula's husband. I was not able to get a good picture of him, but he was very friendly. He stated he would be signing the books as well. When we showed back up to get back in line, there wasn't really a line. It was several people standing around Micheal having him sign, and the line instead to actually see Paula and have her sign. I was a little disappointed. You did not have a chance to talk to her and she was not personally the books. All in all, I got to see her, semi meet her, and have signed cookbook by her.
I cannot wait to try some of the recipes from the book. Hope everyone has a great night! I'm off to try to get some sleep before it's too late.
