I am thrilled to see that Lionel Richie is revamping We Are the World. Growing up I cannot tell you how many times I listened to this song on my cassette tape. I wish I could find that tape so I could pull out the old tape player and drive Brian crazy. I remember watching the video as well whenever I could catch it on. (As I type this I’m watching it yet again, I honestly could listen to this on repeat every day.) Not just for the meaning of the song and purpose (although that is the main reason) but due to there is so much talent all in one room. I hope the version receives the same response if not more than the original.

Chip and I were just talking about this yesterday. He said, "What? They get 80 musicians in a recording studio, and not a single one can come up with an original song?" And I said, "But Chip, everyone already LOVES this song."
A part of me agrees with Chip, though. Why can't they come up with something ORIGINAL that is just as good.
I am looking forward to hearing the new one. We had the single on vinyl, and played that thing out!
The same thought crossed my mind, but like you it's a song everyone already knows and loves it.
