After a great weekend, I come home to find that someone has “broken in” to my house and taken a few things. My AC went out last week, so I called my landlord to fix it on Thursday and I did tell him I would be out and if they would go ahead and fix it while I was gone. Well, I got home, the AC was fixed….but then I walk into my bedroom and noticed my laptop was not sitting on my desk. At first I thought maybe I had put it somewhere else because I was having issues with the wireless last week and all. Well I then noticed not only was it gone, but the charger and the external mouse I had was gone too. So naturally I get a little freaked out but then start checking the doors. Both were locked when I got there. The back door was locked and I unlocked the front when I got home. I started looking around to see what else was missing. All the obvious stuff was still there, both my TVs, DVDs players, all my DVDs, etc. So I started looking more. I walk into the kitchen and noticed that my stand mixer had been moved and saw that the extra handset to my landline was gone. I checked the guess bedroom again and noticed that one of the doors on the dresser in there was cracked. There was nothing in the dresser missing, but I noticed then that a spindle of blank DVDs/CDs were missing. Granted most on that spindle were not blank, but bad ones that I just never tossed because I tend to used them as candle holders for pillars. I checked my bedroom again and saw that the piggy bank an old roommate had given me was gone. This was something I will miss because it reminded me of her humor…the piggy bank said “boob job fund”. That year for Christmas she gave both me and our other roommate one; CJ’s said “face lift fund”. There were mainly pennies in there. None of my jewelry that was sitting right beside the bank was gone. I checked the living room again and noticed that the vase I had painted years ago at the local pottery place was gone. I filled a report, but of course the stuff will not be recovered. It was not until after the police had left I noticed that my DS was missing, it was in my nightstand. Whoever did this had plenty of time because nothing was missed up, I would have never noticed something was missing until I went to use the DS or the handset in the kitchen if they had not taken the laptop. The laptop was almost 8 years old and didn’t work well, but I did have music and pictures on there that I don’t know if I have other copies of. That is what I’m more upset about with that and the fact my nice mouse is gone. The DS I’m upset about because that was my favorite and all the games I had.
I called my landlord and asked him about the people who fixed my AC. The guy he uses said he came himself and did bring one guy with him, but the guy never set foot in the house. The only thing we can think of is that once the AC was fixed and they returned the key to the office, the guy with him saw him place it under the mat (I’m guessing the no one was in the office when they were done) and came back later. I really wish someone would question the guy who was with him. They are changing my locks today so that will be better.
Brian has been the best. He was ready to call my landlord yesterday if they didn’t change the locks. Today in the paper there was an article about two guys being arrested for stolen goods. The police are going through the items to match up with the rightful owners…I will be calling today to follow up on this just to see. It can’t hurt to ask about it.
It just annoys me more than anything. I’m honestly not scared to stay there by myself, granted I do miss having Sunni there right now. It’s amazing how just even a pet can make it feel like there is someone else there with you. I don’t get why people act that way. Sigh.
In good news…silly as it is to some…Monday will be mine and Brian’s 1 year anniversary. It seems like it has been longer yet shorter at the same time. I can’t wait to give him what I got him. The complete season of Northern Exposure; I scored an awesome deal on it. Granted now that marks all those off the list of ideas for him for holidays, but I can’t wait to watch it myself!

1. I'll keep my fingers crossed on your stuff! 2. I LOVE Northern Exposure! 3. Big Congrats to you and Brian on your anniversary! 1 year down....many many more to go!
Did they ever find who did this? How annoying!
Not that I know of. I have not heard back from the Sheriff's dept since last week. I do know they were going to check into the guy that was with the A/C guy to see if he had a background, but I have not heard about that. It really is more annoying than anything else.
