I know I’m a little slow on posting about my trip last week, but I feel bad because I didn’t take hardly any pictures. We just didn’t think about it. We had perfect weather for the beach. We got up at the crack of dawn Monday to drive down. We arrived in Orange Beach around 11:30ish. Grabbed a quick bite to eat, loaded up the cooler, and headed to the beach. Our hotel was not a 5 star by any means, but not roach motel either; but it was right on the beach. That’s all I wanted so I was happy. I made sure I was covered from head to toe in sunscreen. I warned Brian that he needed to make sure he put it on his feet (even the bottom) and ears….what did he do, miss too many spots. The first day there, he gets about 2nd degree burn on the insides of his ankles. The left one was really bad. By late that night he had a water blister forming. Thankfully, I did not get burned expect for my lips. I think I would rather be burned somewhere else than that.
The first night we had sushi and went putt-putt. This is the only place I really took pictures (sorry don’t have them at work). Of course I lost, but I really wasn’t trying to hard because there were too many people in front of us and behind us.
Tuesday was another gorgeous day; we were out there by 9:30 and having a nice mimosa. Hey, we were on vacation. The water was warm enough that day to get in without having to spend time getting used to the coldness of it. We did the whole tourist gig that night for dinner and night life. We had dinner at Sea –n- Suds, and then went down to the Flora-Bama. Which if you want to go and look at the place when it’s not crowded, go during the week and before Memorial Day. There was no one there. It truly is a “grand” as they say.
After the day at the beach Wednesday, we met up with Jane and Doug at LuLu’s. Now this is a fun place. I’m telling you this is the time of year to go down there. There is not near as many people. We had to wait for a couple of minutes to be seated, but it was nothing. I had never been to LuLu’s so I didn’t know what to expect—it was cool. The only place that has walls is the kitchen area. The rest is open but does have the heavy duty plastic that can be rolled down if needed. We ended up closing the place down—seriously we were the last ones to leave other than the staff.
Thursday we headed back. Oh, we made another trip out to our favorite new pizza place closed to Pensacola; Lillian’s. Chad told us about this place, and it is worth the drive over the bridge to it. We had it for lunch Wednesday and decided to go back before leaving. It was a good day for us to leave, it started to pour rain as we were pulling out headed to Foley. Foley has changed in the last say 15 years since I have been. Brian and I both scored some good buys—him more than me.
I was glad we had a day to recover from the trip since Saturday would be yet another wedding for us to attend. Thankfully this is our last wedding for awhile (fingers crossed). I was not ready to come back to work Monday, but I knew I had to. Why can’t we all just be on permanent vacation at the beach.
