I need to rant for just a second.
First of all, when you are in the office you should have the common curiosity to turn your cell phone on vibrate or silent. It is completely rude to others around you to have it at full volume some horrible song. Second of all, just because a co-worker asks you to turn it off doesn't mean they are upset or what not. Yes, I know I am a very loud person, I am not as loud as I used to be, but that does not mean I am upset or over re-acting. So if you tell me to calm down one more time, you will see me upset. This is the second time someone has said this to me. I have never until now had people think that just because I was loud I was over re-acting. Anyone who knows me the slightest bit knows I am a loud person and I do try to work on that. I guess it has to do with lately in the office I have quiet and just sit in my little cube and do my work so people forget I'm there. But come on, have some common sense when it comes to office etiquette.
Maybe this would be a good time to get all my office pet peeves out. One of my biggest ones (bigger than the cell phone on loud) is people who do personal grooming at their desk. There are several people in the office, and somehow I have manage to sit next to almost all of them, who think sitting at their desk is a great time to clip their nails. Do you know how disgusting that is???!!! I don't even brush my hair at my desk. Come on people, there is a bathroom if you really feel the need to do that, but that is something you should do at home.
Thankfully our office has supposedly gone "tobacco free"; which just means you can't dip in the office anymore. Which is not true because I still see people. Seriously, cannot you not just go outside like the smokers do? What makes you think you are so special you can dip at your desk 24/7 while smokers can't?? Are you really an addict that can't make it 8 hours?
I have stopped drinking coffee from the office because one it just sucks, but mainly because people cannot clean up after themselves. Seriously, did your mother not teach you to pick up and clean up after you make a mess? I don't care how you keep your house or live, but when you are in a public place be considerate of others. Beth does a wonderful job taking care of all of us, but we are all adults here--clean up after yourself for a change.
I know this is just me ranting and raving, but it's just common sense that all should have. I have yet to understand how people can act this way. I know we are not all perfect and have our quarks, but come on people. Have some pride in yourself!

Amen sistah!
Especially about the nail clipping! I won't name names, but someone in support was clipping his/her toenails and they were falling in that gap between the wall and the floor and landing in one of the office windowsills below. It was disgusting! (This was right after we moved into the new building, before they closed up that wall gap)
yeah, the countertop in the break room is horrible. you didn't even go into bathroom messes: water all over the countertops and paper all over the damn floor. is it so hard to pick up that piece of paper towel that you tore off trying to get a full sheet? is it?
